I went into this book blindly and I highly suggest doing that for the full experience of the story.

Phoenix is 13 when she watches her father shoot her mother in the head before turning the gun on himself.  She lives in constant fear that his mental issues have been passed to her and one day she will go from being in love, to killing the person she loves and herself. Once she graduates high school, she moves to New York and parties hard.  She's about to commit suicide when a song playing resonates with her and she changes her mind.

Judah Colt grew up in a household where his dad beat him every night while his mother allowed it, encouraging it at times. When he was 13, his mother leaves him with his father and he learns to fight back. As he grew up, his anger fueled him, eventually fueling his music. He writes his lyrics based on his childhood and the demons in his head.

Judah and Phoenix meet at a party and immediately feel the connection between each other. Both of them have walls up and fight constantly, building a relationship full of battles and strong will.

REVIEW: Wow. This books was so poetic and fluid. I made it to about 60% before I was even able to summarize what I was reading. The connection between the characters is so strong and powerful.  It was an emotional read and I loved every page of it.
