SUMMARY & SPOILERS: Adaline Redgrave was first caught in the wrong place wrong time, she witnessed Saint and the rest of the men commit murder. They kidnapped her and held her hostage until she joined their side. The four of them (called The Merchants) are after "The Ledger" which contains blackmail worthy material for all of the most influential people in Cinco. "Kieran" is the mysterious man who holds the ledger. Kieran was once a real person, it develops that there have been multiple people who took on that title when the ledger landed in their hands. The ledger has been added to over the years making the person in possession of it hold the power in the city.
Adaline reveals that she is not the innocent bystander she made herself out to be at the end of the first book. She has also been after the ledger and infiltrated The Merchants to get it. Her dad was one of three men who originally made up The Lords. Her dad knew the real Kieran and his crew started The Ledger before it was stolen from them.
Book 2 and 3 is really just development of the characters and who holds the ledger. At the end of book 3 it is revealed that Mercer Santos has been dead for years. The man in The Merchants by the name of Mercer is really Javier Croix. He was hired to infiltrate the group to obtain the ledger from them once they found it.
MY REVIEW: It was actually really hard to rate this. I had a complete love/hate relationship with the series. The character switches kept me on my toes and also made me want to walk away. I do not like feeling deceived while a book is written in first person, although I know that it's an "unreliable narrator". I didn't like the characters that much, even as they developed. While I did not like the characters, I kept reading to see what would happen next. I really wanted to know how everything would play out.
The reverse harem: I hated it. If the smutty scenes, which really did not add much to the plot anyways, were left out then this would be a really good action series. The love between the characters felt awkward and forced. I just did not buy it.
What I Liked: The hunt for the ledger, the action
What I Hated: The reverse harem, the character switches, the characters in general
